Shy John

Shy John serves hand-crafted beers and yum cha in Perth, Australia in a new “Chinese meets Australia” style brewery.

Shy John was named after John Pong Shying – the first known Chinese born settler to Australia, arriving in the early 19th century.

The logotype drives the simple concept of John being a shy man and partly in hiding, a disruptive, simple and elegant design solution that’s unique and memorable.

The combination of Chinese and English characters and stars from the Australian and Chinese flags reinforce the modern Australian take on Chinese heritage.
